Meet Dr. Kerrie O'Brien
I am dedicated to providing the most current, comfortable, and quality dentistry. I love the combination of art, science, and patient care, and find dentistry to be a fascinating field where there is always opportunity to continue to learn and improve myself.
My goals in dentistry are to stay up to date with all the latest advances throughout my career, and be able to bring back to my family of patients the best in care and continue to educate my patients as well as our dental team.
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree – University of Massachusetts Amherst
- Doctorate of Dental Medicine – University of Connecticut
- Danbury Hospital – General practice residency
Continuing my education is very important to me, and I take many courses offered through local, state, and national dental associations. My memberships include the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry.
In the Dental Community
While living in Connecticut and attending dental school, I volunteered my time with the Connecticut Mission of Mercy, which is a yearly two-day clinic to provide free dental care to the uninsured and underserved in the Connecticut area. I also went on an international outreach trip to Chile and was involved with dental research.
I was chosen, along with a select group of elite students, for national programs including the Paul Ambrose Scholar Program and the Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program, which is sponsored by the American Dental Education Association. I also received the special honor of being inducted into the Phi Chi Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.
In 2017, I was awarded the honor voted on by my peers from the Massachusetts Dental Society, "Top Ten under Ten." This award recognizes the top dentists who have been in practice under ten years that have made a significant contribution to the profession, community, and organized dentistry.
Outside the Office
I grew up in Hopkinton and I now live in Newton with my husband, son, and daughter. I am so happy to be able to practice in my hometown community. I love to spend time with my family and friends and I’m always up for a trip into Boston! I love to run, bake, try new restaurants, and read. I’ve never met a dog I didn't want to play with!
